ZR Speaker Lab - About ZR

ZR Speaker Lab is a small company, based in Slovenia, Europe, which produces only the finest, hand crafted, Hi-End quality loudspeakers and audio devices and was founded in 1983 by Zvone Raspor, audio fanatic and speaker constructor and designer (ex musician - flute and painter Ambiance Ars). The primary product: speaker service and HI-FI loudspeakers ( Transmission Line 1983) and professional loudspeakers for disco, PA.

In 1985 we started a new product - tube preamplifier Alfa, solid state amplifier Beta and hybrid (tube-solid state) integrated amplifier Delta. ZR Speaker Lab used (period from 1983 to 1999) "state of the art" drive units Dynaudio (model Reference, Son Of Reference, Ambience Ars...)

Today after more than twenty years of continuous research and development use our drive units (exclusive hand made technology), basically 200mm direct drive full range midwoofer with wooden phase plug (dual magnet, multilayer coil by ZR...) and the 25 mm silk soft dome tweeter (dual 75 mm magnet).

The result: amazing unique ZR SPEAKER LAB sound.

Our philosophy is to be simply the best:

More than 20 years of experience in loudspeaker design.
Direct drive from the amplifier to the midwoofer drive unit, without the use of a low-pass filter. The result: greater transient speed, no loss of sensitivity and phase rotation
Simply - but you need extremely good drive units.
High pass filter is hard wired with silver plated multicored OFC cooper.
All crossover components (utilise premium grade 400 and 630 V polypropylene capacitors) and drive units are selected and matched to zero tolerance (correct stereo reproduction).
All ZR Speaker Lab cabinets are also finished in selected and pair matched real woods veneers which are then sealed and hand polished with a high quality lacquer. (Veneers: teak, mahogany, anigree, walnut, birds-eye maple, oak, cherry...)
