ZR Planar 12 is a first driver from our new future line of ultra-slim drivers from ZR Speaker Lab. It is High-End Hand-Crafted driver made with highest precision and cutting-edge materials. The main idea was to create the driver that would preserve the classical ZR sound while the thickness would be drastically reduced. The mounting thickness of ZR Planar 12 is only 25 mm (29 mm with included screw heads). It is also very light, weighing only 215g with the included grill. One of the main concerns was also how to offer it at reasonable price for the driver in this range. This would be ideal for car-audio where the mounting height is usually very scarce commodity. Also, the Vas is only 3l.

But the driver has many other applications because of the quality of its sound. It is ideal for the use in the near-field studio monitors. The sound is very natural, without any phase shifts. The frequency range is very wide for this kind of driver. The main concern when building this driver was the sound of the human vocal. It is very warm and rich. All the details can be easily heard.

One of the main advantages of this driver is a newly developed »linear drive« magnetic motor. It uses six neodymium magnets arranged in a special way, to achieve the most linear magnetic field in the direction of the voice coil movement.The magnetic motor also acts like a phase-plug at the same time, giving ZR Planar 12 very wide listening angle.

Many other special parts are used which include: resonance-free stabilit-aluminum basket, special cone coating for the paper cone, hand-wound voice coil, long-life high quality spider, and many other special parts.
